Scott Kurtz: Must Be An Artist, Cuz He's No Merchant (Update: and hatin' on Mile High Comics)

My review of Scott Kurtz, the PVPOnline merchant:

Ordered the t-shirt on July 4th. Didn't think it was insane to hope I'd have it in advance of the Batman movie.

I e-mailed on August 6th, when I remembered, "hey...didn't I order a goofy shirt? where the hell is it?"

It was delivered on August 25th.

As of yet, I have not gotten a single response to my e-mail or an explanation of why it took so long for this shirt to be delivered. I'm guessing the merchant may have held off on contacting me before the extremely late shipping as to not give me the chance to cancel the order.

If I ever get a response, I'm pursuing returning for full refund due to the extremely late delivery and piss-poor service.

Wow...Everyone Was Right About Scott Kurtz

David Brothers over at 4thLetter.net is riffing on a blogging/criticism controversy. Johanna takes umbrage at how a book Scott Kurtz was involved with (How To Make Webcomics) dismissed critics as making useless commentary about an artist's work. Scott, in turn, rattles inanely about how critics basically have no place in the creative process and should, like the Federation (from Star Trek), not try to interfere.

In his prattling, he gives an example about how Mike Krahulik used a new coloring technique on Penny Arcade. He sent an e-mail to tell him it was awesome and to ignore any criticism of it. Turned out that he already was bowing to the complaints and going back to the old style.

It would seem that Scott Kurtz is oblivious to how critics both compliment and deride aspects of a work. Scott was offering CRITICal praise...and expected it to have a place and possibly be listened to. But any and all negatives should go the fuck away.

Scott Kurtz: World Champion Grudge Holder

I offer the man behind PVPOnline.com my begrudging respect. I always thought I was one of the best/worst grudge holders in the world, but he's besting me with how he's holding on to his beef with DJ Coffman.

pvponline The new Wowio deal is bad? Shocking. Thank god we have a new champion for creator rights. Hope that works out better than cult recruitment.

I don't know if he has any Irish in him. I'd doublecheck the family tree just to make sure, if I were him...because no one holds a grudge like those of Irish heritage, in my experience.

All in all, those two crazy kids should just realize life is too short to carry those negative feelings around for too long.

Coffman & Kurtz Still At It?

So, I noticed DJ Coffman post the following on Twitter:

djcoffman Platinum just emailed me a cease and desist from using the herobynight.com and .net addresses. That was nice of them.
pvponline I just sent myself a cease and desist letter demanding that I stop being so awesome with my own creations. I'm going to fight myself on this
pvponline Oh crap. I just sued myself for not honoring previous C&D me sent myself. Can't afford lawyer. Will have to defend myself twice.
pvponline Your honor, I'm a flight risk and request bail be withheld and immediately object to said request on the grounds that I am not a flight risk

djcoffman If they keep it up, I'll send them all to camp cupcake, if they'd like?
pvponline Jury's out. I just came to myself with a last minute deal. I want myself to settle. But my closing statement totally killed my other closing
pvponline Took the deal and settled out of court. I have to be my own butler for a month.
