ASM BRAND NEW DAY SPOILERS: Dig? Thumbing Of The Nose? Or Just Being Cute?

As discussed, the last page and a quarter plays on the JMS saying that Quesada's answer for everything OMD was, "it's magic; we don't have to explain it!"

Is it a dig at him? Is it kind of thumbing their nose at the situation? Or is it just meta-cute?

You make the call!

  1. I think it's an attempt to be cute. But it comes off as kind of trite. The thing that could make this better is if they have thrown in these sorts of allusions to "The Deal" here and there throught BND. Have they? That would be a nice touch I think.

It's not fair to judge a comic just from that little bit there, but it's kind of underwhelming.

I really like the art though. That guy would be a good fit at DC. The art reminds me of Steve Rude.

  2. I thought it was great, easily the moment of the week so far. The only people who have a problem with it will be the same whiny bitches who didn't like OMD & who feel like Quesada raped their childhoods.

  3. tombo, I am guessing the fact that MJ is reading Faust is an allusion.
zodcomplex, which is worse: people complaining about perceived poor storytelling and creative decisions or people complaining about people complaining while resorting to inane comments like "raped their childhood" which was actually aimed at DC?

  4. Anon, I saw that, but I meant have there been other allusions? Like, is this a running thing in the Spidey comics post-OMD? Just to show that "something is not right" with Spidey's life. I am a horrible typer though and it wasn't really apparent.

  5. AAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!! THE FINAL PANEL WAS SPOILED FOR ME BY YOUR THOUGHTLESS POSTING OF THE PICTURE NOT 24 HOURS AFTER THE ISSUE CAME OUT!

Just kidding. I read it already. :)

  9. That art looks like a bad JRjr knock off.

  11. To be fair, Marcos Martin's artwork through the rest of the issue was much better, IMO. I think a splash page reveal like that might not be his strong suit.

  12. Who deleted my homosexual comment?

The one where I implied that Khuxford wants to have sex with Dan Slott? Where'd it go?

  13. No one, genius, even if I've said time and again that such unproductive, off-topic posts are subject to deletion and request that you move it to the haters blog.

You posted the homosexual comment on BRAND NEW SLOTT, not on this thread. Go scurry over there so you can pleasure yourself while admiring your wit on display. :p

  14. Sorry Khux. There's so many of these Dan Slott-themed blog posts that it's hard to keep track.

PS Slott passed me a note in study hall and it says he LIKES YOU likes you!!!!

  15. Well, I wouldn't necessarily call this a Slott-themed blog post, but I guess I couldn't fault you for having that opinion.

BTW, I did one of those four-corner foldy things during lunch to figure out what I should do about your message from Danny and it said, "YOU'RE. STILL. NOT. GAY." So I guess you'll have to let him down easy for me. ;)

  16. Favorite Spidey-related post I have found:

"Last ish's crying-bout-BND letters really burned me up. I love the new BND style; quick, episodic, funny and fast. It really is like the mags back in the 1960s, but in a good way. These aging readers who want character development should read TOLSTOY for crying out loud. As for your critics blasting the asynchronous narrative disjuncture post-BND: If Spidey's last "30 years of character development" were true to life, our boy would be 78 years old and worrying about webtile dysfunction. We're reading a COMIC BOOK here people, and it's the greatest single comic book figure of all time. Spider man. The wise-cracking Web Slinger."
