Slott On Mighty Avengers?

So...they hand Mighty Avengers to one of the few people that couldn't keep their Bendis SI info straight?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Bendis clearly established that War Machine was supposed to be the only set of armor not completely linked to Stark's networks, making him safe from the Skrulls' virus attack. Yet Slott wrote him as suffering from that same virus in an issue of Avengers: The Initiative?

A guy can't manage to coordinate one book with Bendis, so he gets another he has to coordinate with him? Weird.

  1. Continuity aside: why give Slott a higher profile title that sells in the 95k range when his lower-tirered title has lost a third of its readership in a little under a year? It seems like Ron Zimmerman all over again -- ties to the top brass keep piss-poor storytelling afloat.

  2. Because Slott has friends in high places not including apparently Tom Breevort who manages to overlook the fact that Slott isn't a A-list writer like Fraction, Bendis or Bruaker.

Maybe Slott ate a third of his readership. And that, of course, means that he supports gay marriage.

  4. To be fair, is Slott the only one to blame, here? Shouldn't Marvel "Editorial" bear some of that blame, too, as they should have for Civil War's cock-ups?

I don't have a dog in this fight, per se, but the "Editorial" in both of the Big Two has been lacking for some time, shouldn't the buck stop somewhere?

I'm not sure I want to JUST hold Slott's feet to the fire. Like the two separate versions of the Negative Zone prison in Civil War, the book supposedly went through the same process as any other Marvel book, there were quite a few stops where such errors should get caught, correct?

    Take it and run,

  5. Yes, you're probably right to say that editorial should catch more of the heat than Slott. I think that Slott would have been in the retreat where so much of this was laid out, though, and has access to Bendis if he needs it (he has a board on 606studios.com, so I'm pretty sure he has his e-mail).
